Appraisal Bureau offers valuations on Digital Assets and Fine Art for purposes of insurance, equitable distribution, tax and estate planning,  charitable donation, and art as collateral. Appraisal Bureau’s technology-led platform provides ultimate scalability and flexibility for deployments in use today with both public and private clients. Built around efficient and transparent processes to deliver a time and cost-effective appraisal product, we value over $1b in Fine Art annually. Our proprietary NFT Valuation Methodology is trusted by major international insurance markets and financial services firms.

Appraisal Bureau is a third-party neutral valuation and data firm. In order to maintain our fair and unbiased reporting, we do not offer sales or collection advisory services.

Our appraisers hold the highest credentials in the industry as members of the Appraisers Association of America. All appraisals are compliant with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). We work with both private and institutional clients and are the proud valuations partner of Museum Exchange.

Team

Caroline Taylor, AAA, is an appraiser specialized in Post-War, Contemporary and Emerging Art and Digital Assets. She is a Certified Member, and Co-Chair of the NFT Committee of the Appraisers Association of America. Caroline wrote a proprietary NFT valuation methodology used by major international insurance markets. Previously, she was a curatorial associate for the Deutsche Bank Collection. Caroline holds a BFA in Painting and Art History from Pratt Institute, with additional coursework in financial math and statistics at New York University.

Ali Munir is a backend and blockchain developer working across several Web3 technologies with specialization in web automation and scraping. He has built a multitude of blockchain projects including most recently, as a full stack developer, a maximum-security cryptocurrency exchange. He holds a BS in Computer Science.

Stuart Hunt joins Appraisal Bureau with experience in technology, consulting, and strategy. Previously Stuart worked for an international enterprise software provider, a boutique consulting firm, and KPMG’s Advisory practice. He has worked alongside executive stakeholders to concentrate on strategic initiatives related to process improvement and technology operations.

Stuart holds a BS in Information Systems Management from Auburn University and is pursuing an MBA from Georgia State University.

Eliza joins Appraisal Bureau with international experience working at a boutique auction house and galleries in London and Boston. She holds a BA and MA in Architectural History from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Building History from the University of Cambridge. Eliza is USPAP compliant through 2024.

Services

Appraisal Bureau offers valuations for estate and inheritance tax, gift tax, charitable donation (income tax), estate planning and art leasing. Tax and Estate valuations generally rely on Fair Market Value. We work closely with Trust and Estate Lawyers to deliver customized solutions complying with applicable tax authorities and jurisdictions. 

All appraisals are compliant with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). We currently offer appraisals for the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.

Appraisal Bureau is the valuations parter of Museum Exchange – the first digital platform for museum donations.

In cases of damage, theft or other circumstances, Appraisal Bureau can be engaged to assess pre-loss, post-loss, and/or percentage lost value while aiding in the insurance claim process. Appraisal Bureau may be engaged by the owner of the property, agent of the owner, or insurance broker or carrier.

Appraisal Bureau offers Fair Market Value and Marketable Cash Value appraisal reports for equitable distribution of assets, including divorce and family division. All appraisals start with a discussion of the subject property and scope of project. We work confidentially on behalf of our clients to protect the sensitive nature of disclosed information.

Appraisal Bureau works with lenders and borrowers to issue Fair Market Value or Marketable Cash Value Appraisal Reports for collateralized artworks. Our clients include both private and institutional collectors, banks, third party lenders, and platforms facilitating fractionalized ownership and investment. 

Digital Assets

Appraisal Bureau’s proprietary NFT Valuation Methodology is accepted by leading international insurance markets and auditors. Our approach combines blockchain analytics and AI alongside decades of traditional appraisal training.

Our clients include custodians, storage facilities, auditors, lawyers, top digital artists and projects, and museums.

Our services are available for both Individual and Business users. Clients may subscribe to digital asset valuation reporting on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. Our reports are USPAP compliant.

The proprietary Appraisal Bureau relational database tracks both primary and secondary market data allowing for a comprehensive market analysis customized to each individual appraisal and valuation approach. All Appraisal Bureau appraisers and experts are USPAP and IRS compliant and are members of the Appraisers Association of America – the premier national association of personal property appraisers in the Fine and Decorative Arts.

We offer a flat fee structure that is both transparent and cost-effective. Clients may subscribe for quarterly, bi-annual and annual valuation reports.

 Donation Process

Appraisals are integral to the donation process as a requirement of the IRS and CRA in order to receive Fair Market Value tax benefits. Appraisal Bureau offers third-party neutral USPAP-compliant valuations accepted by the IRS and CRA. Donor and Donee information remains confidential throughout the process.
